the verification is supposed to mean the person has been verified as being who they say they are. And that is it. they have made it mean twitter endorses them

I am not sure why people really care if they are verified or not. Read that you can change your name once you have the blue tick anyway

Being verified provides certain perks and gets your replies noticed more. But even with that the idea that it was the same as endorsement was absurd (until Twitter agreed)
