25 years ago people might occasionally discuss the nonagression principle or some aspect of Christianity. Today it's all "muh feels". There's just no thought or argumentation at all.

I'm referring, of course, to mainstream and SJW circles. The alt-right and related circles are the only places you'll find real moral discussion.

A mostly valid counterpoint would be, "people's morality has always been based on 'muh feels'--it was just dressed up in other language before." The Christians who worried about atheists having no morality were always wrong--everyone was just basing it all on feelz anyway.

But I do actually think that the discourse matters at least a little, especially if you can get people to attach emotion to things, eg the constitution or the bible

Yup, the masses don't want to apply systemic logic or theory, just feels. I actually had a postmodernist argue that it was WRONG to introduce logic into morality.
