(2/3) Juries don’t arbitrarily reach decisions in murder trials and our justice system is designed to be very fair. I fear that the right is becoming like the left in condemning what in all likelihood was a fair and just trial because it didn’t have the outcome they wanted.

In particular, it was admitted that he had the gun and shot Steinle. There's no question of identity or self-defense. The killer originally stated he shot at a sea lion, then said it was accidental. Even an accidental firing implies reckless use of the weapon, which was illegal

for him to possess in the first place. One does not handle the weapon in any kind of responsible way and fire an accidental shot.
