Prior to the late 80s or early 90s, stomach ulcers were widely believed to be caused by stress or spicy foods. H. Pylori was cultured in 1982, and that work resulted in a 2005 Nobel Prize.

One possibility in particular that shares many similarities with stomach ulcers and H. Pylori: Crohn's disease and mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis (a bacteria in the same genus as the commonly known tuberculosis)

I think faggotry is probably just a common complex recessive genetic susceptibility to environmental stressors. But the frogs are queers and they sing show tunes so something is weird.
