Huh, my tweet got discussed here: https://alternativeright.blog/2017/10/28/phalanx-cucks/ … I suppose I'll make a few comments: 1. I actually appreciate that "opticscucks" want to improve perception. 2. I know the Nazi symbols are terrible PR, but the excessive hand wringing bothers me more.

8. Optimal messaging is definitely worthy of discussion. You're not going to get from normie conservatism to alt-right without making people a little bit uncomfortable. "America for Americans", as someone just mentioned, is a good balance.

The left has the media to help others ignore their unsavory elements. This is why the populist right needs to worry more about optics.
-
Talk radio, then the internet, have cracked the facade, and many more people are aware of the unsavory left, which helps the Right.
-
But most normies aren't going to support a movement with Klan hoods or swastikas any more than hammer and sickle or anarchy symbols.
-
I agree they won't, but anything pro-white makes people think of that. I'm not sure it's possible to effectively distance while not watering down the core message too much
-
It's not just the media, though. Cathedral institutions reinforce one another. If the media isn't protecting the alt-left, academia will.
-
Simply reminding people of their identity isn't enough to crack the indoctrination done from K-12 through the hand-off at university.
-
The meme war has shaken some shit loose, but something is missing in between it and deeper conditioning to reactionary conservative views.
-
I don't think rallies are going to do anything there at all, tbh.
