Changes over time in polling on ten political questions:pic.twitter.com/r8HRG20Elu
Some comments on these questions: 1. "Usually" is a big problem here. People will mostly answer this as "should we have more regulations?"
2. It's hard to argue that the government does not tend to be inefficient.
3. Look at the drop on the Dem side. 4. This is more about priorities/whether it's a good idea than affording
5. When people think about corporate profits, they often include management pay. 6. Dem % fell off a cliff during Obama admin, when it was proven that blacks can't get ahead in America
7. This is actually the most factual of these questions (rather than about values), and people are getting this massively wrong. Also, note that in 1994 majorities on both sides agreed yet nothing was done.
8. I want to know how many people think homosexuality should be *encouraged* by society. 9. Military strength doesn't make internal conflict go away. 10. People feel better overall about the environment these days & don't see the need for more regulations.
Notice that #10 is the only one where the average has gone up over time. What are conservatives conserving, again?
My answers: 1. Too vague to answer 2. Agree 3. Don't know/too vague 4. Disagree (but more is not necessarily a good idea) 5. inclined to disagree 6. Agree 7. Agree 8. Agree 9. Mostly disagree 10. Not specific enough
