It's easy to look at the polling and say, "obviously the solution is to do what the Democrats and neocons want", ie amnesty and war.

I'm pretty sure that's not the correct answer. What do people really want? You could look at polling and push issues with high enough support, but the problem is I don't think people even know what they want.

Mostly systematic polling bias (as evinced by election results). Also the shy Trump supporter phenomenon.
