Actually, it might not be. If you do an snp to snp DNA comparison, a German might find that other Germans match at an average of 80% of the SNPs while Nigerians may match at an average of 50%. An average German-Nigerian child might then match with parent at 75%.

I'm making up these numbers, but 23&Me used to have this data. If the average match with Nigerians is substantially higher or the German-German match much lower, then the math doesn't work out, but it's not far-fetched.
