Where in Europe are you from?
-
-
The United States sure rejected other European origins, such as the Irish, the Spanish, Catholics and Anglicans
-
The English are genetically part of the European cluster, so what's your point?
-
That the U.S. wasn't intended as a European extension? The English did not consider themselves extensions of Spain, France, etc.
-
America's purpose was to provide a nice place for the colonists and their posterity to live in. The colonists were of European descent.
-
Therefore America was for the descendants of Europeans.
-
Which doesn't automatically mean that it was to be an extension of European identity. America rejected European ideals, even to this day.
-
You could argue that America was really supposed to be for the descendants of English people specifically rather than all Euros, and
-
you might be correct, but I accept that things have degenerated since then.
