Slavery screwed over the white working class by undercutting their wages, and now immigration does the same thing.

I disagree. Slavery came about here, in large measure, because land was so widely available that white men wouldn't work for others.

If land is so cheap that anyone can start a farm, why hire people rather than working your own land? What about the yeoman farmer ideal?

The plantation and the yeoman farm both existed in great number.

My point is that the plantations harmed nearly all of the yeomen by reducing the value of their goods.
