I don't see an econ case against skilled immig. Broad econ consensus in favor. There is a cultural case against too much of it, though.

The productivity of labor is mostly due to accumulated capital. Immigrant labor dilutes capital per capita and thus depresses native wages.

Absolutely. Even if the slaveowners benefited at the time, the results haven't been good for their descendants
