There was a lot of black-white cultural convergence in America from the 40s through the 80s. Whites adopted a lot of black culture.
all of American culture has fragmented since the 90s, though whites are only a bit less negroified

I pretty much see this as parallel to the 19th C African Art movement in Europe - art had become "respectable…"

…and African art was seen as engaging with topics such as sexuality and dominion over other men in a raw & honest way.

The major issue was the sense that "mainstream" art had ceased to honestly treat these topics.
