My grandmother has 23 grandchildren, 13 granddaughters, ages 13-43. None has yet reproduced, and afaik I am the only who can that plans to.
I had one set of great-grandparents born in 1880s: 4 kids, 8 grandkids, 8 great grandkids, 8 great great(+ <6 more est.) @damselmagdalena

That breaks my heart - when the size one generation in a family exceeds or matches that of its offspring's offspring.

Addtionally I blame coeducation at the university level for shuttling college women to careers rather than graduate men's homes.
