@asilentsky No, I didn't mean it that way. Not democracy specifically, anyway. The openness/trust/anti-clannishness really did help though -
@HbdNrx Yes, by lowering transaction costs made large states & armies & markets cheaper to scale. -
@asilentsky I suspect we wouldn't have gotten much science without these attitudes, too. Related to anti-groupthink/creativity, I think.
