Seen in local elementary school: project on the wall where 4th graders were asked to write an opinion of theirs about Martin Luther King.

Every student posted some Cathedral-approved opinion, of course. The students know they're not allowed to have any other opinions.
-
I'm curious what would happen if a 4th grader wrote, "I think MLK was bad because he made whites live with violent blacks, killing thousands
-
Or maybe,"I think MLK was a communist plagiarist philanderer" (the use of an opinion designator like "I think"seems to be part of the lesson
-
I expect the parents would be in for an interrogation with CPS if that happened. The kids know what's not allowed and what teachers want.
-
Note that this MLK project was seen in a very white school. The school probably had a huge MLK ice sculpture for their MLK celebration.
-
I think my actual opinion when I was in 4th grade was something along the lines of, "MLK is overrated and annoyingly religious"
-
I was a weird kid. Even back then I noticed things.
