Charles Manson also had friends and family. So he should have been allowed to go free?

Good to know that's all it takes. If I ever become a terrorist, I'll just be sure to hire someone with a cup of apple juice to make sure all charges are dropped.pic.twitter.com/SX4KM3gc32

Fascists are well-known to fake incidents of left-wing violence. I’m extremely skeptical of that “vandalism.”

Nah, fam. That could maybe have some historical validity, but that's not who the Proud Boys are. And the most radical public activism being done by anyone to the right of them at the moment is
@IdentityEvropa putting stickers on things and triggering thirsty local news teams.pic.twitter.com/BCEjAzrZUK

The problem here is: you think that these righties are the aggressors, because of course they're violent, because that's how they're supposed to be, & everybody knows that. But that's not an accurate picture the way this streetfighting has played out in the last couple of years.

Unfortunately, the kid in Charlottesville decided to ram his car into people (after having people club his stopped car, and a guy point a gun at him), and that's the signal act that we're supposed to remember in incidents like this latest (piss) fight, whatever the local facts...

No - NOT "the kid" in Charlottesville. The GROWN-ASS MAN who GOD-DAMN WELL KNEW BETTER, but who was radicalized by his peers to believe that "democrats aren't people," decided to ram his car into an innocent crowd of people anyway, probably hoping he killed more than just one.

If you want to learn some things, pay attention to how his trial goes (starting in a few weeks). Look beyond the CNN summaries. Read the transcripts. He did a bad thing, on his own, and he'll be going to prison. But things like this were also happening:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10ypNR8w75A …

Other things happening at the time are immaterial - he was demonstrably driven to commit murder because he was radicalized by this "patriotic" bullshit. The fact that someone else tried to stop him doesn't mean he was not a murderer and a terrorist.

He panicked after someone pointed a gun at him. There's no evidence he wanted to hit the crowd as opposed to simply wanting to get away.

I know, he shouldn't have been charged.
