Just a thought, but maybe if journalists would focus only on objective facts reported in such a way as to not mislead people about statistical probabilities while avoiding all spin people would stop calling them "fake news"
Yes, there's this idea going around that people who cal themselves "journalists" are actually producing "fake news" as opposed to "real news"

Thanks, but how about your “statistical probabilities” part?
-
Selective reporting is an important aspect of fake news.
-
(This one is harder to eliminate as a problem, but journalists tend to all focus on the same thing for a while even if that thing isn't new or more common, but as a result people get the idea that that thing is suddenly out of control)
-
Anyway, the idea is that you can report objective facts and avoid all spin but still mislead people by: Reporting only some of the facts Creating more stories on certain kinds of facts, causing readers to get the wrong statistical ideas in their heads
-
Oh so that’s what u mean by “statistical probabilities”. Alright thanks. Later
