So libs are opposed to Saudi Arabia now? What's going on?

-
Disagree - there's a huge need for a conflict with Saudi Arabia - they attacked our country, murdered thousands of our citizens and bribed both major political dynasties - the Clintons and the Bushes - to ignore it. They're in dire need of annihilation.
-
America won't go for it. The results would be Vietnam or Iraq-like. Not good.
-
(America won't go for the sort of war that would actually work, that is)

They have a lot of influence over the international oil market. The reasoning is that if Saudi Arabia is not under the US sphere of influence, they may end up in the sphere of influence of Russia or China, so it is better to keep them, even as the US becomes energy independent.

The oil gets on the market and becomes fungible

We've used them as a lever against Russia's sphere of influence.

Bad idea

Don’t know if you’re being sarcastic, but it’s because of the PetroDollar. We formed an agreement with them decades ago that they could only sell their oil in
. Thus forcing other nations to exchange their currency for ours in order for them to buy oil. -
People think this is important, but it isn't
-
Maybe not so much now that we produce more oil than them, but you were talking about why the Saudi’s have been considered an ally for so long.
