Sure, without the Industrial Revolution and the scientific revolutions, humanity would have had a much less impactful effect on the environment. But we would still be living miserable and difficult lives, as was the norm for most of our history. Comfort came at a price.

Of course. The idea way the have both nice lives and lower impact on the environment would be to have far fewer people, but that ship has sailed.

The funny thing is had we kept our tech to ourselves climate change would be mitigated. And we could have let the indigenous live in teepees. Our bad. Empathy was a mistake.
