The popular conception of Charlottesville is so ridiculous. All normies believe that evil Nazis went to Charlottesville in order to attack innocent POCs, when anyone who watched the livestreams knows this is literally the opposite of the truth.

It seemed clear to me that the media and counter-protestors wanted a confrontation and spectacle, come what may.
-
Oh I agree the left and the media were looking for a conflict. They wanted violence in a way the right really didn't. I'm not sure the counterprotestors wanted one of their own to die though even if the media did.

I am blaming the fedgov, governor, and police force who decided to is state of emergency, leave exposed antifa/AR brawl points unpoliced, force the AR out of the park *through* antifa, and then failed to police the street march
-
Oh yes, all of the state elements, too. They also wanted a conflict. They wanted the crowd to beat down the AR for them, and they wanted to arrest anyone who defended themselves. Really awful stuff.
-
The media played their part. There's a chance it was a combination of pure incompetence and maliciousness on the gov's part, but cancelling AR event after everyone is corralled and then pushing them into antifa seemed very intentional
