To be fair, there will always be some taxes. The best taxes are ones that are most easily administrable/hard to avoid and cause the least disruption of incentives/market forces. Estate taxes are actually pretty good on these factors compared to other options.

It's hard to beat the land value tax, but if we have a choice between estate taxes and income taxes, estate taxes are usually better.
