This election is basically over. In November, we could see the Bill Mitchell/Magapede faction completely collapse as their “red wave” fails to materialize. There could be a power vacuum that we need to fill.https://twitter.com/axios/status/1043866323506196480 …

It’s annoying to cater to normies but you fight on the battlefield you have, not the one you want.

The truth is I think Trump deciding not to tweet (for example) wouldn't help at all. I think they *say* it's his style, but the truth is it's the media memeing on them.
-
I think there is a positive feedback loop in effect. The press loved his February 2017 speech to Congress which was pretty hard stuff but delivered with a smile. When Trump is crass online, the press exaggerates it, which makes him bantz the press and establishment even more.
-
As much as we may enjoy his style, maybe Trump should stop the tweeting. Most people only hear about his tweeting through the filter of the lying press, thus normies who would otherwise support his policies are scared off.
-
I really do think it would just prevent Trump from getting his message out
-
In any case, if he's going to tweet, his tweets should stay focused on policy and not on stupid fights with celebrities and journalists.
-
I agree with that, although pointing out how certain news is wrong can also be important

Alienated internet culture warriors who've been fighting liberals for years like Trump's style because cynical trolling is an exhilarating, viable, even powerful strategy in arenas like Twitter or TV debates. Normal people still want leaders they admire who embody their values.
-
I don't see these as incompatible.
