Indeed. Imagine a world in which politicians understood behavior genetics, sexual selection, game theory, and IQ.https://twitter.com/thehill/status/1040835370794016769 …

You're conflating pop "science" with actual science. The former includes a lot of misunderstanding of the latter. Actual science is a good thing.
pop science vs real science is a distinction without a difference the new england journal of medicine and bmj are just as full of bullshit as a Neil DeGrasse Tyson lecture, tho maybe a dash less pozhttps://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/scientific-peer-reviews-are-a-sacred-cow-ready-to-be-slaughtered-says-former-editor-of-bmj-10196077.html …
You should be more discriminating. I know there's plenty of bad science out there, but that doesn't mean the scientific method or science in general is bad.
i am indeed EXTREMELY discriminating the scientific method is a simple system and anybody can game it and even IF they're, miraculously, both honest and objective (p=.01%) the results are intrinsically less certain than assumed John Ioannidis's flash of genius demands respect
Note that I am not endorsing the concept of peer review in general (though it's not all bad)
Anyway, science & its grounding in reality and testability keep us from spiralling off into Talmudic bullshit
I'm sorry: You believe science STOPS "Talmudic bullshit"? You have it exactly backwardspic.twitter.com/fq7ZfxE0Q1
Testing vs. reality is what stops talmuditry
Let's say it's 3000 BC and you have people arguing about the philosophy of the flat earth etc. There are ways to test this and eventually you can shut the flat earth people up (notwithstanding today's tiny fringe) by collecting enough proof.
