Was the factor of higher IQ people breeding less ruled out?
-
-
-
It appears so since it was a study of siblings
-
the q we were discussing earlier is irrelev: low iq sons were less likely to have younger brothers, and so the study introduces a correction factor to remove the selection bias this creates
-
(so the question is not whether such a bias would screw w/ results but whether their correction fixes it)
-
I'm not seeing why they would even need a correction here, but I guess I would have to read the study. If there is some correction factor, that definitely seems open to problems.

That study is based only on Norwegian data, prior to any mass immigration, and apparently they had eugenic fertility (at least wrt to IQ) during the time period covered.
-
Maybe it's just some Norwegian anomaly.

The study was done by Stuart Ritchie he isn't a propagandist. He is usually hereditarian. see his book. And this study https://www.biorxiv.org/content/early/2017/04/04/123729 … https://www.amazon.com/Intelligence-That-Matters-Stuart-Ritchie/dp/1444791877 …

They do note that it could be related to “social spillovers from increased immigration”, whatever that means, along with changes in education, media, nutrition &/or health. Full paper here: http://sci-hub.nu/downloads/1f00/10.1073@pnas.1718793115.pdf?download=true …

A suppoosed social spillover from immigration do not apparently apply to the USA since there is stll IQ increases there.

The problem is the headline. "A study suggests environmental factors may explain some of the decline" is accurate.

And we've also seen how genetics are supposedly causative in regard to psychological traits when it's not logically possible for genes to cause psychological traits.
