I'm from rural mo too. Just over the river from your home town. The people of Richmond were all about community too. But also fiercely union and not interested in the con-man tactics of your parties current leader. Perhaps things were different in Lexington, though I doubt it.

Sounds like through the lens of a person that believes government is the only solution and that only good things come from it. Americans *should* fight government over its reach and spending at all levels and ensure it is reasonable and not wasted.
