Sam lost his dad unexpectedly in 2014 and decided to buy out his mom’s share of their farmland to try & make a go of it. But land is expensive & land to rent is scarce where he is. “I’m so deep in now I can’t get out,” he says.pic.twitter.com/8xNxYN7nIC

With so much land owned by so few people, and more & more corporate farms coming in, Sam wonders if he can make it - or if other young people will even want to try. But he loves the land, he loves to farm, and he wants to preserve this way of lifepic.twitter.com/NR8H8gwC4h

Daniel is the fourth generation of his family to farm this land and he hopes he won’t be the last. He & his wife have three small kids, and he tells me they depend on his wife’s income to make it. As a farmer you have to be an optimist, he says, but more & more you wonderpic.twitter.com/MHtibvf0eL
