I've been extremely suspicious about FB and other apps needing access to your microphone, and camera. Ive reduced the permissions for the app including the mic. When I need to use the mic on FB I just activate it. It at least gives me some peace of mind.

People opted in to get their Messenger dictation transcribed. The home screen/smart speaker Portal has voice commands as well. Importantly tho, there exists the tech to parse these voice queries to certain unsure words, as opposed to reviewing entire queries
