We need to set better standards for those we elect to government positions. Many governors and mayors are sadly in over their heads in a crisis AND IT REALLY SHOWS. How about from now on we look for those who have some EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SKILLS instead of a nice smile on TV?

I think a good start might be to resolve never to vote for anyone who's not had a real job: making a budget, meeting payroll; negotiating contracts; deciding whom to hire/fire. There are far too many elected officials who've never done anything but government work.
