Trying to portray any large group of people as inherently evil is exactly what the wealthy powerful elite want - divide the 99%. People are struggling and largely never hear a critique of the system so many Trump voters were protest voters with justified but misguided anger.

I'm having a hard time conceptualizing Republicans leaving the GOP/Trump for the far-left. It just doesn't make sense. I would understand if the politics of Sanders facilitates another GOP/Trump win in 2020 and there in receiving financial and media support.

Because Americans are inherently nonideological. They want someone who is honest and will fight for them. That’s why policies like Medicare for all, green new deal, ending the wars, breaking up big banks, etc are favored by sweeping majorities of the public.
