    We have been alarmed by reports of the TPLF further expansion of the conflict in Amhara & Afar. Continued fighting only prolongs the humanitarian crisis that is afflicting far too many people in Ethiopia today. All parties must begin ceasefire negotiations without preconditions.

    As per our yesterday's statement on the security situation in neighbouring countries, we wish to clarify that the country's border with Ethiopia has not been closed contrary to some erroneous media reporting. We have only enhanced our security posture along the border.
