The average high for Fort Smith in April is around +6°C which makes this reading even more remarkable.

Weather History: This heatwave continued rolling over the High Plains of the Canadian Territory for another week and on the 29th April, 1980 Fort Smith (NWT) registered an incredible high of +30°C which I think is the earliest occasion for such a temperature above 60N°? https://twitter.com/Harry_Hardrada/status/1384853661633978368 …pic.twitter.com/0HBmlUDQgd

Nar’Jan Mar (67N) broke an overall April heat record today with a high of +16.4°C! That’s +2C warmer than their previous record in 1995. Significantly cooler temperatures expected next week though with snow. https://twitter.com/Harry_Hardrada/status/1385205517220564994 …pic.twitter.com/Ikc9loFEu2

Beginning from the 24th April, 1950 blizzards swept across southern England. A southerly placed JS drawing arctic air south over Western Europe but moving north over Eastern Europe, taking tropical air towards Moscow and the highs of +28°C and just to the north +30°C! Balmy! https://twitter.com/Harry_Hardrada/status/1383757240977395712 …pic.twitter.com/MZtvSOtHut

The craziness at Manston continues...Not only is it possible that Manston could record it’s coldest April on record...it’s also very likely now this will be the first April to not see a maximum temperature rise above +14C! https://twitter.com/Harry_Hardrada/status/1378322955806081027 …pic.twitter.com/uC9FUayXFv

Yesterday Nar’Jan Mar, in the Russian Arctic, nearly broke an all April heat record but just missed it by a few tenths. 21st April, 2021 =. +13.5°C 21st April, 1995 =. +14.2°C The region however was warmer in 1995 with temperatures up to +20C above the Arctic circle.pic.twitter.com/imjKDjr2dI

Parts of North Dakota and the Upper Midwest were up to +100F (+38.0°C) on the 21st April, 1980... this actually happened!

21st-23rd April, 1968 It’s the wild spring of 1968 again and just after mid-April a torrid +30C heatwave crossed over Germany for three days. Record April heat as well as the earliest +30C temperatures were broken in many towns/cities across West and East Germany.pic.twitter.com/UVzoHx7645

18th April Paris registered their hottest April maximum on record on this day in 1949. It was +30.2°C. Paris has only ever recorded +30C in April on two occasions and both came within 2 days of each other in 1949. It was +30C in many areas across SW Germany too. https://twitter.com/Harry_Hardrada/status/1383031951695736834 …pic.twitter.com/idme8g3eMN

This is what I’d call an alarmist striptease. It’s technically correct for the warmest 13th April in Moscow but it’s neither a record April temperature or earliest occasion for +20C which they omit to say. Moscow reached +25C on 7th April 1975.

Verkhoyansk has finally gone above the freezing point with a high of +0.7°C today. It was below freezing point since the 24th October. The region looked a little different in 1997 when Verkhoyansk registered its warmest temperature for 15th April with a high of +6.7°C. https://twitter.com/Harry_Hardrada/status/1371349266531291138 …pic.twitter.com/56vYSJ50Xa

It was on this day in 2007 that I believe the earliest +30.0°C was reached in Northern Europe. The airbase of Kleine-Brogel in Belgium reached the 30 mark with a probable UHI effect.
