I’m told that whilst polls show Labour closing gap with Tories nationally, focus groups with Scottish voters show party is seen as largely “irrelevant”. Senior Labour insiders say party seen as a “laughing stock” due to Corbyn being “all over the place” on 2nd indy ref.

Starmer and Scot Lab have agreed party will head into Holyrood elections categorically opposed to 2nd indy ref But snr figures want party to go much further - they want Lab to be vocal champions of union Feeling Tories are seen as only alternative to Sturgeon and independence

Also a lot of frustration at Richard Leonard. One frontbencher told me that while he is “incredibly nice guy”, no one in “Westminster thinks he is doing a good job.” Second source says he’s not seen as a leader. But no one seriously thinking he can be replaced.

There is now a growing sense that shadow scottish secretary Ian Murray and Leondard’s deputy Jackie Baillie are Labour’s best shot at turning tide But clear even with polls narrowing that Labour has some major challenges ahead if it is going to stand chance of winning in 2024

If everyone in Scotland voted labour in 2019 the Tory majority would be 6 less. It's not Scotland they need to win over to get back in power. They won't get more seats here anyway, they just don't listen.

No fan of Richard Leonard's but he's not solely responsible for the demise of Scottish Labour. It's the fact that they refuse to support independence which is killing them off as a Party. Why do you the majority of their supporters now vote SNP.

It’s unbelievable to think that by going harder on the Union Lab can turn Scotland round. What they’re really saying is they want Tory votes in Scotland. It’s Better Together all over again. Long may it continue because it means independence will be sooner rather than later 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺

😂😂😂 Almost every word of this is an absolute gem. They never learn, do they? They were an irrelevant laughing stock long before Corbyn was leader. And still they cling to the worst possible representatives for salvation.

What this actually says is the union is dead. Labour will not have a revival in Scotland so long as they're competing with Tories, UKIP, BNP etc for hard core unionist vote (circa 30% of electorate). Esp not as that means supporting Brexit and Johnson.
