Next time an interviewer asks you to "Explain this gap on your resume," REGARDLESS of why, answer, "I decline to answer that question in #solidarity with those whose reasons are none of your business, or reveal information that it's illegal to not-hire them for." 🧵

Replying to
No! Disabled people generally prefer identity-first language ("disabled people") over person-first language ("people with disabilities"). So in your example, it should be "mentally ill people," unless the subject of your piece indicates they prefer "people with mental illnesses."

There are deaf people who can't hear, & then there are the Deaf, who use Sign Language fluently & are part of a community/culture. What do folks think about capitalizing Disabled for openly identifying as such & fighting for equitable treatment for all of us? Other requirements?

In case the (Black, ex-cop) Mayor of NYC wasn't enough, here's more evidence that Black officers are not a panacea against things like Driving While Black remaining a capital offense. Building on top of an unstable foundation can't produce a safe, stable home!

Tall people need way more calories than short, and we don’t really need tall people. We could argue they are useless eaters and should have to survive on the same calories as short people, and if they don’t like it, tough.

Pay attention. (Pic is an actual Nazi propaganda poster saying that an entire family of healthy Germans can live for one day on the same 5.50 Reichsmarks it costs to support one frail/ill person for the same amount of time)

The poster shows a drawing of a man on the left as old and frail, standing behind a sign that says 5.50 RM. On the right is a drawing of a family with two healthy appearing adults and 3 small children, where the father is holding a sign that says 5.50 RM. All writing on the poster is in German.

ANTI-prejudice training, taught & administered by marginalized people who have endured prejudice themselves is necessary; non-prejudice isn't enough. I don't trust this for a minute to not disproportionately harm & oppress those farthest from being cis/het-white-male as-is. 5/5

...FEEL like a real apology to the ones hurt or their peers who could be next) is a fig leaf. I'm not saying that firing people for a first offense is always necessary; if it's not among their arsenal, you're not actually serious about being held accountable. 4/

Conspicuously absent features include mandatory record keeping & accountability for all parties given more power here, by a social justice organization that ultimately answers to minority communities (BIPOC, LGBTQIA, & disabled), with the authority to fire anyone prejudiced. 2/

My alma mater (shown clearly in the header image) is becoming more & more like a prison; they already had "security vestibules" & surveillance cameras, now armed guards! "Don't worry, they'll be OUTSIDE the school, unless there's an emergency..." ⬇️

...shame if the A-10, primarily designed in the first place to destroy columns of Russian tanks invading Europe, stayed in the hanger the whole time while that exact threat is countered by other means. Or are they waiting for them to cross a NATO border to pull that card? 4/4

Except for that little part about how the US saying "we're working on it!" is enough for Germany to unleash their Leopards; perhaps we didn't prep for that situation BECAUSE that was the plan among NATO. As much as I don't want to see a war happen, it would be a crying... 3/

...situation likely, even after the Ruskies seized Crimea by force? Meanwhile, it sounds like by the time they're ready to ship out, then they need to be shipped across the Atlantic, Russians could already be drinking vodka in Kiev, so the effort could all be a waste. 2/

People didn’t get The Spanish Flu, H1N1, SARS1 more than one, most people only get Influenza 2-4 times in their lifetime and new evidence suggests the more you’re exposed to Viruses the more your cellular health suffers later in life. We’re living in fucking unprecedented times.

Frustrating when leftists assume Disabled people aren't already here. We don't need to be recruited. We're in these goddamn communities already. We just need to be heard and not treated as the enemy.

Frustrating when leftists see generalized COVID defeatism as a reason we have to line up with the denialist majority instead of an opportunity to recruit hella disabled people by being the only political tendency that cares whether they can participate in society with any safety

Ok so the thing you have to understand about the sarcastic nerds on Twitter who fight for COVID protections is that you can’t shame us by making us think we’re in the minority because we’ve been doing that our whole lives. It only makes our sarcasm and resolve grow stronger.

A schism or mass exodus to more homophobic branches of Christianity, especially by priests, could do more long term harm than taking things slow. I agree that it's not going as fast as I'd like; I'm not telling anybody how they should or shouldn't feel about it.

While he still holds that it's a sin, isn't mandating that the Church officiate homosexual weddings, this is a positive step. IMHO, he's pushing this as fast as he thinks he can get away with. He says to welcome & respect them, as they do for everyone else who isn't perfect. ⬇️
