i'd rather fight corbynite labour than johnsonite tories on trans rights, but fellas it's going to be a hellish fight whoever's in power. candidates openly proposing rolling back twenty years of trans rights. this is what's been unleashed. it's very very bad.

I think NGOs rightly thought we were in a space where trans rights were the next step. But we all misjudged the latent hatred of 2nd wave feminists to the inclusive 3rd wave.

I think it's really useful to read about the trans-inclusive elements of the second wave. Cristan Williams has done a lot of work: http://radfem.transadvocate.com/ . I find a lot of strength in radical feminism. I also think that contemporary transmisogyny is a form of third wave!

I don't know that it really unleashed it, I think they were building for the backlash from a year beforehand roughly so far as I can see looking at online organising etc.

It occurs to me there is no shady trans cabal plotting how to best make policy moves in secret but we could probably do with one, lol.

I genuinely think that the Evangelical right losing the gay marriage fight in the USA and having all that cash and kulturkampf sitting around looking for an outlet was what caused this.
