If you had just one chance to lecture undergrads on the social construction of sexuality, what are some specific things you’d cover?

And using 's great paper as an example of how to use qualitative research, not for sample-population generalizability, but for developing a theoretical model and identifying generalizable mechanisms... (Also on my syllabus)

I’m here for bringing some sociology to the 538 podcast. Just because we can empirically study “electability” doesn’t mean it’s not a social construct. The notion of electability changes across time and place for social/cultural reasons. Ppl have to give it meaning.

During diss data collection, I asked a 54 y/o gay black man if/how he thought about aging as a younger person. He said, “I never thought I’d make it to 50. Not because I was living crazy. But because people like me were dying all around me, and not many people seemed to care.”

How did your research interests evolve in grad school? I entered grad school wanting to study drag culture. I never thought I’d be studying LGBT aging. What’s your story?

Today I'm proud to endorse for president. Elizabeth and I share a vision of America where everyone counts. An America where people—not the wealthy or well-connected—are put first. I'm proud to join her in the fight for big, structural change.

Don't listen to academics bragging about working 60+ hours per week. It's performance. The evidence does not support it as a path to success.
