I would never support forcibly arming teachers, but if a teacher already has a carry permit, why not allow them to keep their weapon in a locked safe or drawer, just in case?
The priority would be to lockdown. I don’t think a locked drawer is safe enough to prevent accidental handling by a student. A locked safe would be more prudent. But it would take away costly time to open and arm themselves.

Admittedly, if the shooter starts in your room, you may not have time, although id at least prefer the chance, but the coach two doors down, or the math teacher across the hall, would have time, and a chance

Also, im not sure I see how a lockdown and a weapon are incompatible. Seems it would make that room more secure.
