Thank you for pointing out how MLK wasn’t adored by the majority of the country in his lifetime. Ignoring that and whitewashing history gives a pass to those who hated him and lessens his impact as a leader in the face of overwhelming adversity.
Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated 51 years ago because many feared & hated him for speaking truth to power. He never knew public acclaim or popularity in his lifetime. Whenever we invoke his name, it bears asking, what are WE willing to sacrifice for a more just world?
