brands in 2016: Frito Lays? More like Fleek-o-Hayyyyyyyyys!! brands in ‘19: Hegemony creates a panoptic hyperviolence in which no otherized person can escape. This permaviolence whittles away at the Other’s humanity, making them cyborgs of The State. That’s why here at Gushers,

Bruh Ben And Jerry’s Ice Cream is a wholly owned subsidiary of Unilever, a multinational conglomerate that definitely doesn’t give a shit about POC or marginalized people.
-
Calling out disproportionate prosecution for weed is a good. Tons of people get knee jerk angry when corps support anti discrimination pro black causes. Remember Nike/Kaepernick? This isn't taking a safe position on a settled issue. I dont care if they're doing it cynically.
-
Nah it’s just literally co-opting progressive social causes to make money that then causes the problems they are “against”. Unilever doesn’t spend any money to free inmates who have been incarcerated b/c of cannabis, but you can bet the politicians they fund wrote those policies.
-
Still don't care. If they did an ad for marriage equality after gay marrige has already legal that's BS. May not be donating to free the incarcerated but spending a little of the ad money they were already going to wast advertising frozen lard calling out racism is a good thing.
-
The sin of woke branding is taking a non-controversial stance on an issue that isn't going to change anything for the sake of PR. This ad is ok. Still doesn't mean I think that Corporations aren't BS and that they shouldn't be broken up and taken over by the workers.
-
How can you say... do you seriously believe someone is going to wake up, read Twitter and see BEN AND FUCKING JERRYS supports racial justice and think THATS GOING TO CHANGE THEIR MIND?! Where are these people that get their political views from ice cream I would like to meet them
-
They sell stuff that kills you while crushing workers as a matter of due course. If a little of the ad budget goes to to the call for equality in the enforcement of drug laws it's better than not. The sin is that multinational corps exist at all. This ad doesen't anger me. Sorry.

Yeah, "I'm sorry I don't know what you mean" like the other person said.
-
I mean, I get it, sometimes you think their antics are cute or funny and wanna give them a pass. But it's still co-opting anti-capitalist rhetoric to make anti-capitalists give them money. Looking woke without putting in the work.
-
Disagree. Ben and Jerry have probably been getting high since before your parrents were concieved. Their company has been supporting political causes since before social media and this position is consistent with their personal politics and their companie's values.
-
I agree with critiquing brands that coopt social justice buzz words as a cynical attempt to increase profits while still being terrible, but we can’t demand corporations act as good corporate citizens while slamming the ones that, by and large, always have been.
