I always liked Tyson bouts. But this is from a guy who fought Tyson, but also Norton, Shavers & Ali, & sparred with Ali and Frazier. The great Larry Holmes. Maybe he’s wrong, maybe he’s biased, I don’t know. But it’s worth a listen if you’ve not heard it.

I loved that podcast. As a fan of boxing-the sweet science- I agree with him. As soon as Tyson fought a great boxer in Holyfield, he was outmatched. See Holyfield fight Bowe II. Tyson wasn't fighting those wars. He was a slugger who was in trouble past round 3 against a boxer.

That’s why I actually think Tyson beats Frazier. Joe started slow and got better as the fight went on. Tyson was the reverse. Joe could be decked early…Tyson was never decked early, always later in a fight. If it goes past 4 rounds though, then I’d take Frazier.

Will you be starting a feed over on Mastadon if (when?) Twitter falls over?

I’ve been wondering about this. So far my plan has been to bury my head in the sand and pretend that none of this is happening. Hoping for the best with twitter.

I think Tyson loses to Frazier if the fight went beyond 3 rounds but the opposite is also true.
I love Tyson but the 'what ifs' I think about are Ali/Foreman vs Klitschko/Fury.

How do you feel with Mayweather on all this? He's always been hailed as an excellent defensive fighter while being derided as being boring

My thoughts on Floyd are complicated. Maybe too complicated for twitter. I think the “you can run but you can’t hide” saying would apply to Floyd had he fought in a better era. He’s a “great reflexes” fighter (so was Ali for that matter…but Ali could really hurt someone).

Dan you can't ask old boxers or their trainers if they think new boxers would beat them... they're NEVER going to say yes
