Do you find #PairProgramming socially draining? Then I recommend its laid-back cousin, which goes by many names: #MobProgramming #EnsembleProgramming #SoftwareTeaming
Adding more people increases the social energy while decreasing the personal (1/2)

Overly focusing on tech is how you end up with the skills of a senior engineer and the experience of a junior human being.
Testing Without Mocks: A π§΅.
So a few days ago I released this massive update to my article, "Testing Without Mocks: A Pattern Language." It's 40 pages long if you print it. (Which you absolutely should. I have a fantastic print stylesheet.)

I'm getting more convinced that Rust code is generally going to end up faster than C++ code every day I work on optimizations.
Strong immutability and no-alias guarantees are a game-changer and we've only really begun to scratch the surface of what can be done.

Many practices that help improve software development, such as User Stories, DDD, Mob Programming, X-Storming, Y-Mapping, Swarming, Clean Code, BDD, have one thing in common. They create a _shared understanding_.

This is super interesting. Thanks for sharing. I think devs should work more closely together with sec specialists. Pair- or mob-programming could be interesting for this...

Remote suffers from a loss of incidental communication, e.g. at the coffee machine or overhearing a convo.
Make up for that lack by going #ensemblefirst as well.
Quote Tweet
I feel like #ensemblefirst could be a thing for orgs, like #remotefirst.
Meaning: let's start from the place of maximum communication and collaboration, and tool up for that, and let there be exceptions as needed.
@mob__mentality is only #ensemblefirst org I can think of...

Open source allows you to learn from each other's code and ultimately improve your code!
In a world where open source didn't exist at all, there would be no significant improvement in coding standards.

I make & see others make small mistakes all day long in coding. Often these take me 20+ seconds to figure out on my own. Supported by a pair or mob, often less than 5 seconds.
It adds up, not just in time but also in terms of interrupt-related friction.

Anybody knows if there is a tool that automatically converts #SSE2 #SIMD instructions back to non-SIMD code?
The main use case would be getting a version that is a bit easier to read and reason about...
Actually, any tooling suggestions around #SIMDprogramming would be helpful.
