I don’t like this focus on flights. Contrary to the rest they are not as easy to replace, specially for an island plus it hides the fact the biggest polluter by far is the car.

I definitely think there’s an unfair bias against peripheral nations and areas if you put too much emphasis on stopping people flying. At same time it’s just good to know facts behind emissions. In reality it’s the quantum of trips that mostly unsustainable, not really the modes

Any idea why Eurostar comes out so far ahead of domestic rail..? Electric instead of (sometimes) diesel, or less energy expenditure on acceleration/braking, or..?

Partly (maybe 30% of difference) that and partly cos Eurostar largely powered by French nuclear power.
