Young people are blimmin' awesome. So are #disabled people. Given this seems to be blowing up, I should probably suggest you check out my TED talk on the awesomeness of disabled people. Excellent. Was there someone there with the ramp ready?
-
Yep, the guard was ready for me!

Without question, teenage boys are at the top of my list. They always respond to my presence the quickest and alert each other not to get in my way ‘bruv! Bruv! Watch yourself!’ Love them.

I've had a few offers from teens/young adults wanting to lift me off trains or buses when there's been an access failure. And I'm an ugly* large bloke in a huge powerchair. I have to politely decline, but yes, the kids are alright. *"Ugly" due to lots of missing teeth.

Recently saw an elderly friend who had just had a fall. A couple of teenage lads had picked her up, got a chair from a nearby house, done some first aid and were on the phone to the ambulance service for her. The kids are alright.

Sometimes I ask my kid questions to help him practice choice and such but really its cause most times hes more reasonable than me.

Was going home using my white cane on bin day, every half step I’d collide with a bin. 2 young kids behind me said ‘we’re just going to come pass you’ and pushed every single bin out of the way for me, well over 200 bins I’d say - the youth are alright

This is so lovely! I have had similar experiences with teenagers pulling each other out of the way & telling each other off if they don’t move quick enough!

Woman in my road, early 70s: returns by train. City paralysed by snow. No taxis and finding it difficult to keep her feet. Even worse, runs into a group of tipsy noisy youth out of a club... who check she's ok and walk the uphill mile home with her, one on each arm. Love it.
-
You sure they weren’t using her to hold them up?
