no; it's partially the reporting journo's fault because they're just publishing a new edition of the Sonnets that groups the poems chronologically rather than in cycles and I think it's being somewhat sensationalized.

The cover of their "radical and unsettling" new edition of the sonnets prominently features white lilies, so it's also the whitest Shakespeare Dude Take, but that probably goes without saying...

oh i saw this lol, kind of rolled my eyes and moved on. feels like 'researchers' 'discover' shakespeare was bisexual every 2 years

Yeah I generally ignore any pop journo articles about Shakespeare authorship or sexuality (largely because I don't consider my work to be about The Historical Human William Shakespeare) but sometimes people send them to me and then it feels like my job

But I think now they’ve ‘proved’ it?

It looked from the article I read like they just reorganized the sonnets but I guess we will have to see?
