Speaking of Sebald covers, German vs English, Vertigo presents a challenge as the original didn’t really have one! Rather a very delicate, vellum, typographic slipcase (which also includes the subtitle not to be found in the book itself, or any future edition...)

I read Mohsin Hamid’s The Last White Man and it is as though Saramago’s Blindness and Kafka’s Metamorphosis had a baby, filtered through this age of white replacement theory and social media. Deeply provocative and I highly recommend it.

Rest in peace Raymond Briggs, a beloved Hamish Hamilton author and true visionary. My thoughts are with his family and friends, and all who worked with him over many years

It’s with great sadness that we share the passing of Raymond Briggs. Raymond’s best-known work is The Snowman, a pioneering picture book, a radical and beautiful innovation: a picture book without words. All of us who had the privilege of working with him will miss him.

Biyi Bandele’s passing is a monumental loss to Nigeria’s film and creative industry. He will be remembered as a powerhouse who made some of the finest films out of Africa. As we mourn him, we commiserate with his family, friends and colleagues. May he rest in power.
