I was at to be honored for my academic work with diversity & inclusion at 14th Annual Bouchet Conference on Diversity and Graduate Education. Ceremony took place on a stage w/ no wheelchair access. The planners knew three month in advance that I use a wheelchair

As someone whose Mum is frequently unable to enter common places such as museums and cathedrals due to a lack of wheelchair access, & is also put in danger due to people parking on pavements & having to use the road, I cannot stress this enough

I’ve often wished I could re-experience the first time I saw my wife, touched her hand, kissed her... I imagine it felt something like this.

"Venues need to employ deaf and disabled people – that's the best way to improve access. It’s about getting the experts in." "Theatre is powerful and has a way of changing perceptions. There's a social and civic responsibility."

“She’s a MOM!” is a really weird criticism of women acting/looking sexy. How do you think many of us became moms

If you search "wheelchair ramp" on Google News nearly all hits are about nonprofits and volunteers building ramps. And the one story that isn't charity porn, is about how California's Children's Services program is failing disabled kids. Welcome to 2020

What a horrific experience to have at the hands of folks claiming to center inclusion. what a gross display of the white supremacy culture that informs every fiber of your institution.

No one apologized. When I tried to bring it up, they couldn't see what the problem was. At the banquet the next night there wasn't an accessible restroom. Since I couldn't pee or wash my hands, I'd had enough and just left.
