.3/ Air strike against air-base was anticipated & active fleet was moved pre attack & troops relocated. Base was home to a mix of some 6000.

.4/ Base could not be totally abandoned as its a strategic one with Isis only 30-40 kms away. As a result 6 were killed & several injured.

Interesting fact. IMO: US wants SAA gone from Deir e Zour & hand it to SDF. Maybe this was the real reason for the bombing of the airbase?

Its in the interest of KSA and Israel to deny Iran continuous access to Hezbollah in Lebanon. This might be a piece in this effort.
