You guys know what to do if you drop something on your toe and your toenail turns black and hurts like hell? Heat a paperclip red hot, and rest it on the nail. It burns a hole in the nail and hits the blood pooled underneath and then you just let the blood drain out. Painless.

Give it a spin to fly the microbes off first before entering the toe. When I grill I give tongs a few test clacks before handling, for the same reason. Never been sick in my whole life.
If you shake the bit inside a small jar or cup for 20 seconds beforehand, even if any hostile microbes survive to enter the wound, they will be disoriented enough for macrophages to easily get them

Heh. Ever read Efim Liberman's work on bioinformatics? He invented the field singlehandedly. Thought that cells do computation via a 3D cytoskeletal matrix communicating via sound waves (song.) One of his experiments involved spinning fish to disorient and time recovery.
