Hey, that study included only Eurasian languages, so there's no signal from Tsimshian being another branch of the same family. Are there any studies directly comparing Tsimshian with Chukotko-Kamchatkan?
Similarly, Tsimshian being considered a "peripheral Penutian" language (Sapir 1916, DeLancey 1997) is false signal from Uralic being sister family to Indo-European.
I don't believe in a sister relationship. I agree that there is evidence for contact, and not just with early western Uralic but with far more derived descendant languages.... in fact, time-transgressive Uralic languages from what is still our far future.pic.twitter.com/9xBazhpUHH
