    90% of Roman troops were killed by other Romans. Mare Nostrum=Roman Lake. Rome's identity was the Mediterranean by the time the Republic was about to fall (I'd argue this is partly why the Republic fell (too big), but different convo). Germania was never, ever part of Rome.
