I always wonder why Yoruba are used as THE prototype West African outgroup or donor population etc in genetics studies... are they among the lowest in archaic ancestry? I know the Skoglund paper said Mende have signification more archaic than Yoruba

Some has questioned using Yoruba as the outgroup in Formal stats like f3, D stats etc when it comes to modelling West Eurasian population groups. Now we know Yoruba has 6 to percent West Eurasian admixture form a North source. Using Mbuti instead to reduce chance of getting bias.
